Think of a situation that happened to a person in the story and decide whether you would have done the same thing he/she did or something different. Tell or write what you might have done in the same situation.
Jonathan Lindley Okonkwo beat his third wife when he came home and she was gone. If I came home and my wife was gone, I would not beat her, I would ask her where she had been.

When Winston thought about committing suicide if he got caught, I most likely would considered the same because they probably punish him in a cruel way.
I think the diary was probably good idea. You're recording your encounters and giving your thoughts the way things are. It's a safe way to rebel, and good way to vent. I would've done the same thing to keep myself sane.
In the book all things fall apart the part when Oknokwo hit his third wife and she still stays with him I would have done the opposite. I would pack up all the kids and leave him. No man should ever lay his hands on any woman. Abuse is a serious matter that people don't understand. Staying with a man that beats you in his head you are telling him it's okay to do and it's not. All you have to do is leave and I promise you everything will be okay.
Mirna- In the book Things Fall Apart Okonkwo killed an innocent boy that was practically his son. He didn't have to do it, but he wanted to proof that he wasn't weak. He did have to do that to show he was a man and he wasn't weak.
After the Bingley's leave for a while, Jane receives a letter from Miss Bingley practically breaking up with Jane for Mr.Bingley. Jane gets upset and goes to stay with her Aunt and Uncle to try and get over it. If I was put in that situation I would have went to where the Bingley's were and forced Mr.Bingley to break up with me himself not his mother.-Maddie
Isaac Filip I would've helped one of the slaves that he walked by on his journey to get his steamboat. I feel like it would be wrong to not help and I would feel bad if I didn't.
In Things Fall Apart, the Oracle declares that it is time for Ikemefuna to be killed. Despite the fact the Ikemefuna calls him "father", Okonkwo still goes with the men of the village to kill Ikemefuna. When a man strikes the first blow onto Ikemefuna with a machete, Ikemefuna cries to Okonkwo for help. So he wouldn't appear weak, Okonkwo delivers the final blow onto Ikemefuna and kills him. I would not have gone with the men to kill Ikemefuna much less kill him myself. I would not have been able to live with the guilt of killing a young boy that trusted me so much to call me "father".
Something that happened in Wuthering Heights that I would of done different in that situation is when Heithcelf was brought home for the first time. All the kids shunded him and treated him horrible. I would be interested in where he came from and what it was like there. I feel like it would be cool too be able to meet someone form another city I had never been to. So I would of acted a lot different than the children did in this book.
Mikaylee deloach Whenever Lockwood goes to the house a second time, which is a mistake because the weather was bad. So it was a 50/50 chance of him getting stuck there or not. Which, of course, he would because it's that type of book. I would have waited until the weather was perfectly clear, or just not go back because the people seemed rude.
Madeline Harvey - Lockwood went back into the house for a second time and got trapped. I would not have done that especially if I didn't have permission.
JoJo Ornales - In the book there was a situation where Heathcliff came back for the first time in three years. Mrs. Lockwood, Heathcliffs "sister", was surprised yet excited to see him. If it was me I would've asked a lot more questions! Where has he been? Where did this money come from? i would've wanted to know right away rather than find out later on. Although, i would have been just as ecxited.
When Victor created his monster he let him escape and wanted nothing to do with him. That led to the monster possibly killing his family members. I would've held the monster and either put him to rest or work more on it.
Winston went over to help a fellow neighbor because her sink was clogged. Even though helping would have made his coughing act up he still helped, even when he was yelled at by her son afterword. I would have gone over to see how big the problem was and tried to offer assistance but if I couldn't fix it I would tell her to wait for her husband to get home or go try to find someone who knew what they were doing and would also try to help then. I wouldn't mind helping. The lady seemed nice but if she was rude I would have said no.
Elizabeth Bennett turning down Mr. Darcy's proposal: Mr. Darcy's proposal to Elizabeth did not seem very genuine, given the circumstances at the time. He had just admitted to Miss Bennett that he was the one who broke up Mr. Bingley and Jane's relationship. He also self-gloats and belittles Elizabeth and her family's financial situation. I would have rejected Mr. Darcy's proposal, too, and probably with the same response she gave him. His first proposal was not honorable and was not in any way how a woman wishes to be proposed to.
In the story Big Brother monitors the people through their telescreen. Winston Smith is always careful around them because he is not a fan of the government watching his every move. He always turn his back to the telescreen. I would do the same thing because I am very uncomfortable with the Idea of the government watching my every move. It is quite obsessive and weird. - Tuan Le
When Winston received Julia's note, I would have reacted the same way. Being so depraved of such a basic aspect of our social lives (love and companionship) would have me jumping at such an opportunity to find someone who I could spend time with without the constant glare of Big Brother.
I'll go back to when Winston first got the diary and began writing in it. He knew the risks of both owning and writing in the diary and still kept it in his possession and broke the law. If it were me, I would have either not had anything to do with the diary to begin with, or find a better way to hide the fact that I have it. I, like Winston, would hate to have the Thought Police on my tail for any reason.
A situation in Pride and Prejudice that keeps crossing my mind is when Mrs. Bennet receives the letter of invitation from the Bingley's for Jane to come to Netherfield Park and she sends Jane over there but sends her by horse to stay over at the Bingleys'. I would not have done the same thing because I wouldn't know how Jane would feel in that type of situation to go to Netherfield nor would I know if she's comfortable being over there even if she admires Mr. Bingley or not. I also would not have put my own daughter at risk of getting sick even if I wanted to give her hand in marriage to a man.
If I was creating a monster Tjag turned bad I would not lock him inside and run. I would have, rather than just locking him up, took him apart in order to stop him. I mean if you create a monster you should know how to destroy him. Don't just leave him there locked up, he's bound to get mad and break out and harm people.
Juan Mancera, Well Winston and Julia fell in love, but they know they well get caught so if Ibwas Winston I would not get involve with her I would juat avoid her. I wouldn't want her and I to get in serious trouble.
In the book, there comes a time where the monster confronts Victor and tells him that he has killed Elizabeth. To his point Victor never moved or felt any anger to the monster, where I would have been shocked and outraged by the finding of who killed my sister. I would've straight up attacked or plotted revenge against him.
If I was given the opportunity to travel to Africa, I would flat out refuse. People were not ready to handle the dangers that Africa had. There wears not cures for the diseases that originate from Africa. Going there means certain death
Victor doesn't return to his apartment because the creature he created is there. I personally wouldn't run from my problems. I created it so I need to deal with it. Also if I left and the creature was to hurt someone else I would feel responsible because I could've done something to prevent it.
In Frankenstein, he went off to college and ignored his family and everybody in the outside world. If that were me, I would not have ignored the people that raised me. I also wouldn't ignore everybody.
If my sister was sick at Mr. Bingley's I would do the same thing that Elizabeth did. I would march over there to see if she was okay as well. Elizabeth did the right thing. Especially if my sister was at the very handsome and wealthy guys house.
When Mary is singing at the dinner and Elizabeth looks at her like what the crap. I would be like Elizabeth and try to stop her from embarrassment but I would tell her instead of Mr.Bennet.
In Frankenstein, Victor does not confess to his monster killing his brother, William. William's wife, Justine was accused of the murder although she was innocent. Victor let her go on trial and make a false statement confessing that she did kill William. That sentenced her to death, so I believe that Victor should have confessed to his monster killing. If I was in his situation, I would've let my professor or friend know what was going on. It would've stopped all the chaos. --Marissa
Samara Duran When Mrs. Bennet started criticizing Elizabeth for not being interested in Mr. Bingley, she started saying all kinds of harsh things you could say to your daughter. Elizabeth just didn't care what her mother had to say about her because she knew why she wasn't interested and why she wasn't going to like him. She then starts to fall for Darcy. I would of been the same way she is because Mr. Bingley seems like he's too good for anybody.
After the Bingley's have been gone for a while,Miss.Bingley sent Jane a letter practically breaking up with her for Mr.Bingley. When Jane receives the letter she doesn't do anything but remain sad and move with her Aunt and Uncle. If I was put in a situation like that I would have drove to where the Bingkey's were and confronted his mother and him. Mrs. Bennet wanted one of her daughter to marry mr bingley because he is rich. Jane Bennet got his attention so Mrs Bennet wanted to get them together. I wouldn't make my daughter marry someone just because they are rich, you marry that person cause you love them not for money -Bobby Garcia
When Marlow was tired and he was resting and the two men above him were talking he didn't leave he stayed and listened. I would have done the same thing if I was him one because I'm nosey but I think that it was a good thing that he did because they were talking about Kurtz. This could be useful in the future.
Diana Hurtado When Mr. Lockwood had his nightmare and a children's hand grabs him. I would’ve done the opposite Lockwood did and let Catherine in and would’ve seen what she wanted she wasn’t a bad ghost anyways. When he explained it to Heathcliff she knew Catherine needed help and was screaming back to try to get her back to come. I would have helped her.
Gilberto Borja Edgar asks Heathcliff to leave his house, but Heathcliff refuses. Edgar was going to get help from his servants to remove Heathcliff but Catherine forces Edgar to confront Heathcliff alone by locking the door into the house and throwing the key in the fire. Edgar at first hides his face, but Catherine taunts him and he punches the larger Heathcliff in the throat. Then he runs from the kitchen into the garden to get the servants. At first Heathcliff was furious because he wasn’t going to let Edgar get away with it so easy. He was so furious that he tell Catherine this “If I don’t floor him now, I shall murder him some time; so, as you value his existence, let me at him!’” But then, Deciding he can't fight off Edgar and a bunch of armed servants, Heathcliff leaves. I think it was smart what Heathcliff did because he was outnumbered. The only thing different that I would of done, is right when Edgar hit me I would reacted and try to hit him back before he could run to get help.
They people were being watched from the telescreen and they couldn't turn it off, only dim the light down. I would've put a cover over the telescreen so I could have some privacy or something!
When Victor Frankenstein creates the monster, he doesn't tell anyone of his creation. The monster begins to torment Victor and a few townspeople. If I was Victor, I would have let everyone know of his creation so people were aware of his menacing creation.
Destanie Cerda-Nelly let Hindley take Hareton, knowing that he could kill him. I would not have let him anywhere near Hareton if he was a crazy drunk. I would have threatened or distracted him so the child could run and hid somewhere safe until I got him.
Adrian Ortiz- Marlow was sent to a deserted African village to recover Fresleven's bones. He was stabbed and left there to die while everyone abandoned the village. If I was him I would have done the same to help him out.
There was a part where Winston where bought a journal to write his feelings about his government. I would have done the same if my government was messed up.
Then Winston bought the journal to write what he feels about his government. I think I would have done the same as he did to express how I was felling about my government.
There's a part in the story where Lockwood here's these strange noises in the house, he shouts and shouts for the disturber to show themselves, he handles the situation quite well in a way I would've. It turns out to be Catherine Linton.
When Lockwood is attacked by the dogs Mr. Heathcliff does not help him and instead remained still laughing at him. Zillah, the housewife immediately helped Lockwood and even let him sleep in the chamber where Heathcliff did not allow anybody. I would have done the same being in the same situation as Zillah and I would immediately help Lockwood because nobody else would.
In Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo kills Ikemefuna, his step son after 3 years of having a relationship with him. I would not be able to kill my child like Okonkwo, biological or not. I understand that Okonkwo is afraid of showing fear but I think killing Ikemefuna was showing Okonkwo's weakness. To me, even killing a child sounds horrific and unimaginable since they are so innocent and defenseless, especially in today's society killing children is "monstrous." If I was in Okonkwo's position and apart of the tribe, I would allow the elders to kill Ikemefuna like they were supposed to, so I didn't have the guilt and regret of killing him myself and that it was their Gods way and his fault only.
Hannah Rush Mr. Bennet wanted to hurry and marry off his daughters. The man that their parents picked out for one of the sisters did not come off as pleasing. Elizabeth fell in love with Mr. Darcy. I would change it to where they didn't have to get married so fast. I would marry whoever I wanted and not listened to my father.
In the book the man lets the monster go. But I wouldn't have because after the guy let the monster go it ran off and killed his family. That's why I wouldn't have done that because I love my family and wouldn't want that to happen to them.
When Mr. Bingley comes to town, Mrs. Bennet was all excited because she wanted one of her daughters to marry him. I would let my kids marry whoever they want. I would especially not have them practically compete for a guy. If they want to marry a poor guy then let them.
When Charlotte accepted Mr. Collins proposal just for financial stability. I personally would have done the exact same thing because I want to live a prosperous life. I would choose money over love any day. It might sound bad, but lets be honest, love doesn't come easy and finding someone to match your personality type is very difficult to come by.
Samantha Di Pasca "And now let's see which of us can touch our toes!... Winston loathed this exercise, which sent shooting pains all the way from his heels to his buttocks and often ended by bringing on another coughing fit." If I had this problem when reaching for my toes then I probably wouldn't do the exercise if it's going to cause pain for me.
He has favorites of all his daughters and I think it is very wrong. No parent should choose favorites. I would talk greatness of all my children. I would love my kids equally and respect them all.

ReplyDeleteHannah Rush Mr.
ReplyDeleteIn our book the guy released a monster that killed his family and I wouldn't do that because I don't want me family to die
ReplyDeleteIn the book the man lets the monster go. But I wouldn't have because after the guy let the monster go it ran off and killed his family. That's why I wouldn't have done that because I love my family and wouldn't want that to happen to them.
ReplyDeleteDina- when mr. Bingley wanted to marry his daughter off to anybody. Instead I would marry them to someone that actually loved them and cared for them.
ReplyDeleteWhen Mr. Bingley comes to town, Mrs. Bennet was all excited because she wanted one of her daughters to marry him. I would let my kids marry whoever they want. I would especially not have them practically compete for a guy. If they want to marry a poor guy then let them.
ReplyDeleteJoshy-
ReplyDeleteIn pride and prejudice, Mrs. Bennet wants one of her daughters to marry the wealthy Mr. Bingley . I would let them marry who they want.

ReplyDelete"And now let's see which of us can touch our toes!...

ReplyDeleteI would've set up the meeting with Mr. Bingley like Mr. Bennet did.
