Frankenstein

Frankenstein
1. Tell how Victor Frankenstein’s parents met.
2. Summarize how Mary Shelley interjects her social interest of caring for the poor into Frankenstein.
3. Show how Shelley portrays the women, Caroline and Elizabeth, in Chapter One.
4. Describe Victor’s childhood.

    1. Alphonse became Caroline's guardian when her father died which was Alphonse longtime friend. Alphonse and Caroline soon married two years later.
    2. She writes that Caroline and Alphonse were both very generous to the poor. They even adopted a orphan who was Elizabeth.
    3. She portrays them both as loving, kind, generous women. Elizabeth seems to have received those characteristics from her mother.
    4. Victor was a only child until the age of 5 when they adopted Elizabeth from a poor Italian family. They grow up as best friends along with Victors close friend Henry Clerval. He grows up a happy child in a wealthy family.

  2. 1.) Alphonse, victors dad, meets his wife Caroline through her dad who was long time friends with Alphonse.
    2.) Mary Shelley cares for the poor like if they were her own. Elizabeth, Victor's sister, is adopted into the family and cared for like a princess.
    3. Mary Shelley portrays women as beautiful yet helpless and defenseless people.
    4. Victor enjoys a normal and happy childhood. He is cared for and loved like any child would by his parents as they travel throughout Europe, until finally settling in Geneva.

  4. Kamryn- In this story Mrs.Bennet wishes for one of her daughters to be with Mr.Bingley because he's very wealthy. One night Jane was going to go eat dinner with him at his house and Mrs. Bennet made her ride her horse in the pouring rain all the way there. Mrs. Bennet did this because she wanted her to get sick and have to stay there with him. I would not make my daughter ride her horse in the rain just to stay with a rich guy. I would want my daughter to be with someone because she loves them, not just because the man is wealthy and rich.
